Bridal shower bingo cards

Opening a stack of kitchen gifts can drag. Bingo gives every guest a reason to watch each box - and a shot at a prize when the stand mixer finally appears.

Build the cards from the registry

Most couples register online, and the registry is the best word list you'll find: it's exactly what guests are bringing. Open it, copy 30 to 40 item names into the maker - one per line - and trim the long ones ("Le Creuset 5.5 qt round Dutch oven" plays better as "Dutch oven"). Items several guests are likely to buy, like towels or wine glasses, make good early squares; the splurge items make the late ones exciting.

Add a few moments, not just gifts

A handful of non-gift squares keeps the game lively between boxes. Try "bride reads a card out loud", "someone says 'you'll use that every day'", "a gift that needs assembly" or "matching set". Keep them friendly - the bride and her family are reading these cards too.

Questions

Can I use the couple's registry for the squares?

Yes, and it makes the best game. Copy item names from the registry into the word box, shortening long product names to two or three words.

When should we play bridal shower bingo?

During the gift opening. Hand out cards just before the first gift so guests have something to do while each present is unwrapped.

How many squares should the cards have?

The 5×5 card with a free space needs 24 items and suits a shower with plenty of gifts. For a small shower, a 4×4 or 3×3 card fills faster.

Is it okay to include funny squares?

A few light ones work well, as long as they are kind. Skip anything that could embarrass the couple or a guest.
